Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 12 Tbsp. (1½ sticks) softened butter
- 1¼ cups light brown sugar
- ¼ cup light corn syrup
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- ¾ tsp. baking powder
- ¾ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. baking soda
- 1 large egg
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Beat the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup until fluffy. Add the vanilla, baking powder, salt, and baking soda, and then mix in the egg. Beat well. Beat in the flour, then stir in the nuts and chocolate chips.
Drop cookie dough by tablespoon onto lightly greased or parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until lightly browned at the edges. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, and then move to wire racks to cool completely.
