To help you save time, you can make the pie crust ahead of time, refrigerate it (or even freeze it if it's way ahead of time), and then just make the filling the day of. You can also warm it in the oven before serving if you would like, although I personally don't need my pecan pie to be warm. Enjoy!
Yum, yum. Pecan pie is one of my favorites! I made this pie for Thanksgiving, of course. It was my second time making it and equally as good. I used a different pie crust recipe in the picture than the one I gave below because I thought it wasn't flaky enough and a little too thick, so I gave my better recipe for pie crust.

I make this apple crumb tart at the cafe I work at and it is so delicious! I've gotten so many great reviews on it, plus it's one of my personal favorites. The trick is that you cook the apple beforehand, so first of all they're delicious, because you cook them with sugar, butter, and cinnamon so you can be sure the apples have fully incorporated all those ingredients by cooking them with them beforehand. Also, it make it so that the tart doesn't shrink in the oven because all the juices from the apples have already been released. So, it's a win, win. And the crumb topping really makes it. A great summer dessert!
"That is the best pie I've ever made," were my exact words after taking my first bite of this pie. When you think of pie, you probably think of apple, pumpkin, pecan, and that's really it. Those get enough attention, but what about blueberry or cherry or strawberry rhubarb? I didn't feel like pitting three dozen cherries, and I didn't know where to find rhubarb at this time of the year, so I went with blueberry pie. Technically those aren't in season either but they're one of those fruits you can find all year long because they're just delish. So, I took a stab at my first blueberry pie, and it was a great first try, because it was simply divine. The crust is a foolproof recipe I got from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts when I took a class there. I have in the instructions to double the recipe for the pie dough, but just know that you will probably have extras, or if you don't, use a lot of blueberries!
I've always wanted to make a pecan pie. What's funny is that I used to "hate" nuts. I put quotation marks because I don't remember myself trying them very often, or ever really, but I was very picky and decided I hated nuts. I eventually grew to like them and now I use them pretty often! A couple months ago my mom's friends came over for a dinner party and one of her friends made a pecan pie for dessert. I had a little taste to myself, which ended up being a whole slice, and then another the next day... it was amazing. So I finally made one today for our Christmas Eve party, and it turned out great! Very pretty and very yummy, plus it was so simple!
This is a true classic in our house. To us, fall means apple picking, which means apple crisps, and a lot of them. This recipe is so quick and easy to just pop in the oven that we make it all the time to use up our apples from apple picking. One year I swear we went through probably 5 apple crisps throughout the season. They're really good and really easy, so why not? Enjoy!
At last, apple season. I love apples, like to an obsessive extent. So now I can finally eat like 4 apples a day and not look as weird, maybe?
Anyways, today we went apple picking, so of course that calls for an apple pie afterwards. This really is a great apple pie recipe. The crust is really easy to work with and I like that it has just a little bit of confectioners sugar in it to make it sweet and not just like baked flour. The filling is foolproof and delicious. I've used it for years now. So, I know apple pie sounds like a difficult task, but try out this recipe and you may change your mind. |
